About me

A serene landscape featuring rolling hills, a clear blue sky, and a vibrant sunset.

I'm a lifelong journalist and gardener passionate about connecting people to nature. I began my career as a reporter and producer in fast-paced newsrooms before shifting my focus to gardens and the environment. Along the way, I studied landscape design at The New York Botanical Garden and worked in nurseries in New York and Seattle.

Today, I write for publications such as Better Homes and Gardens, Horticulture, and The Seattle Times, and contribute garden and wellness columns to several Washington state newspapers. I also enjoy covering lifestyle topics, from travel to home design.

My work has been recognized with four Gold Medals from Garden Communicators International, which celebrate excellence in garden writing.

I’m proud to work with Pacific Horticulture as a content consultant, serve on the board of the Northwest Horticultural Society, and share sustainable gardening tips as a trained Master Composter/Sustainability Steward with Seattle's Tilth Alliance.

When I’m not writing, speaking, or gardening, you’ll probably find me hiking with my tree-climbing dog.
